HELPING OFFICES TO REOPEN DURING THE PANDEMIC USING UVGI SOLUTIONS

Current Studies and Research

A new study conducted by the Queen Mary University of London and Leeds Beckett University revealed that UV germicidal irradiation (UVGI) in offices can effectively eliminate SARS-CoV-2 virus particles, which spread through airborne droplets. The study suggested that UVGI systems have the potential to reduce the transmission of Covid-19 in indoor spaces.

The researchers analyzed historical published data on the impact of UV irradiation on coronaviruses and concluded that UVC light can deactivate the SARS-CoV-2 virus particles found in the air. The study also indicated that the levels of UVC light required to inactivate the virus are practical and safe for upper room applications.

According to Professor Clive Beggs, Emeritus Professor of Applied Physiology at Leeds Beckett University, finding ways to minimize the risk of airborne transmission of Covid-19 in buildings, especially in poorly ventilated ones, has become increasingly crucial. He mentioned that UVGI for HVAC systems is a well-established technology that has been successful in preventing the spread of diseases such as measles and tuberculosis. The study suggests that this technology could also protect indoor spaces like offices, restaurants, and bars, allowing for a safe return to normalcy.

Can UVGI System Curb Covid-19 in the Building

UV germicidal lights, which emit short wavelength radiation, can damage the genetic material of microorganisms such as bacteria, viruses, molds, and coronaviruses, preventing them from reproducing. UVGI systems can be installed in the ducts of heating, ventilating, and air conditioning (HVAC) systems to irradiate small airborne particles containing microorganisms as the air flows through the ducts. These systems can also target cooling coils and drain pans in air conditioning systems to reduce mold and pathogen growth.

How Alfaa UV Can Help You Curb Covid-19

Alfaa UV’s Ultra Coil and Ultra Duct UVGI systems use UVC lamps and Reflector Technology with UL Certification to disinfect recirculating air in indoor spaces. The UltraCoil UVGI system not only fights viruses but also ensures cleaner cooling coils, resulting in greater efficiency and lower running and maintenance costs.

UltraCoil

Alfaa UV’s ULTRACOIL ensures deep cleaning of coils using a Parabolic Reflector System, removing bio-films to prevent air contamination through the coil and drain pans. It offers a safe and eco-friendly alternative to conventional chemical methods.

UltraDuct

Alfaa UV’s ULTRADUCT (Duct Mounted UVGI) solution provides assured single pass disinfection of airborne bacteria and viruses in the supply or return ducts of HVAC systems, as well as increasing the lifespan of HEPA filters by reducing the load of live organisms.

WHY HAS UVGI BECOME IMPERATIVE IN HVAC INSTALLATIONS POST COVID 19?

What is UVGI Ultraviolet Germicidal Irradiation (UVGI) is a type of electromagnetic radiation that is used to kill microorganisms such as bacteria, viruses, yeast, mold, and fungi. It is a non-chemical technology with no residual by-products. The use of...

HOW UVGI SOLUTIONS CAN HELP IN HOSPITALS

HOW UVGI SOLUTIONS CAN HELP IN HOSPITALS Hospitals are prone to infections and airborne hazards, especially when overcrowded. The air and surfaces can quickly accumulate dirt, dust, viruses, and bacteria. While hospitals continuously sanitize all spaces to maintain a...

WHY DOES YOUR RETAIL SPACE NEED UVGI TECHNOLOGY TO PROTECT YOUR CUSTOMERS AND WORKERS FROM AIRBORNE VIRUSES

During the COVID-19 pandemic, India has seen a significant decrease in cases, leading to the reopening of retail spaces. The retail industry is expected to grow substantially, reaching a value of $29,446.2 billion by 2025. However, amidst this...
